Investment and Business Opportunities
Investment decisions require reliable information about production capabilities, infrastructure, available sites, workforce needs, regulatory conditions and commercial feasibility. Green Srpska provides an introduction to economic sectors in Republika Srpska and links visitors to organisations that publish official investment information.
Where the opportunities are
Food and agriculture
Invest Srpska lists cold storage, fruit drying, greenhouses, new orchards (walnut, hazelnut, pear, cherry, apple), berries, wine with geographical origin, fish farming, beekeeping, medicinal herbs and industrial crops. Annual agricultural incentives are available from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.
Wood processing
Timber supply is limited: 2.57 million m³ was felled in 2024, down from 3.26 million m³ in 2017. The opportunity is therefore in higher value per cubic metre, through drying, glued panels, furniture and wood-based building products.
Manufacturing and energy
Pharmaceuticals, vehicle parts, building materials and plastics more than doubled their sales between 2017 and 2024. The Chamber of Commerce estimates that about 30% of the region's electricity-generating potential is in use.

Cooperation by sector
Agriculture and food processing
Projects may relate to production, processing, storage, packaging, cold-chain infrastructure or technology. Investment considerations include access to raw materials, market demand, suitable facilities and regulatory requirements.
Forestry and wood manufacturing
Potential partnerships can include equipment upgrades, further processing, furniture and component manufacturing, product development and responsible sourcing initiatives. Investors should assess material traceability and all relevant legal obligations.
Water-related infrastructure and technology
Projects linked to water efficiency, treatment, monitoring and industrial services may serve both public and private needs. Resource use and infrastructure projects depend on applicable permissions and environmental procedures.
Other manufacturing
Metalworking, textiles, packaging and building-material production may offer opportunities for manufacturing partnerships or capacity development. Suitability depends on the individual company's capabilities and the planned product or service.
Incentives for investors
The Law on Incentives in the Economy of Republika Srpska has been in force since 15 April 2026 (Official Gazette No. 29/26). It provides three types of incentive: for investments, for raising workers' wages, and for investments of special importance. The last is intended for large projects that improve competitiveness and balanced regional development. Projects must be worth at least 50,000 KM excluding VAT. Incentives are awarded through a public call by the Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship in two stages, reservation and then payment, and applications are made in the e-podsticaj system.
Agricultural investors can also apply for the long-term development measures in the annual agricultural incentive plan, which amount to 48.9 million KM in 2026. Development loans and guarantees are available from the Investment-Development Bank and the Guarantee Fund of Republika Srpska. See Institutions & public programmes.
