The Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics published its estimate of the 2025 late-crop and fruit harvest on 15 April 2026. After a record year in 2024, fruit production fell sharply. Maize and most vegetables were also down, while tomatoes and sunflower were up.
Fruit
In 2024 plum growers harvested a record 50,524 tonnes from 12,211 ha. With an average yield of 4.1 t/ha, it was the largest plum crop in at least five years. The 2025 harvest was 23,886 tonnes, down 52.7%, from a slightly larger area of 12,862 ha. The average yield fell to 1.9 t/ha. Apples followed the same pattern: 28,943 tonnes from 4,973 ha, down 53.7%.
For buyers of fresh fruit, dried plums or juice concentrate, this means tighter supply and firmer prices for the 2025 crop. It also shows how much yields here depend on the weather, and why multi-year supply agreements with processors are worth considering.
