About the company

Banjalučka pivara d.o.o. is a brewery in Banja Luka with a history going back to 1873, when Trappist monks of the Marija Zvijezda monastery began brewing beer on the Vrbas river. It marked its 150th anniversary in 2023.

The brewery produces about a dozen beer brands. The best known is Nektar, which comes in lager, light, radler and unfiltered versions. Other brands include Banjalučko, Crni Đorđe, Baraba, Kastel and Balkan, and Bärentaler Lager and Weissbier are made under licence. Beer is sold in glass bottles and 0.5 litre cans.

Banjalučka pivara is part of the Olvi Group, a Finnish brewing company with subsidiaries in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Distributors and retailers interested in listing its brands should contact the company directly.
