About the company

Mljekara Pađeni d.o.o. is a dairy based in Plana near Bileća, in eastern Herzegovina. Founded in 1999 with a capacity of 130 litres a day, it now processes up to 100,000 litres of fresh milk daily and employs 185 people.

The dairy collects milk from around 900 suppliers in 20 municipalities, from Han Pijesak to Trebinje, as well as from farms in Čapljina, Tomislavgrad and Kalesija. Much of the milk comes from cattle grazing on Herzegovinian karst pastures and the Romanija–Podrinje plateau.

Its range of 27 products includes yoghurt, Greek-style Jogurtos, sour milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, fresh soft and hard cheese, young kajmak and the traditional sir iz mješine. According to the company, raw milk, production and finished products are checked organoleptically, chemically and microbiologically in its laboratory.
